There are numerous ways a company can help engage employees in philanthropy in their communities. Some of these include:

-
Employees can be members of your grantmaking committee or scholarship committee and recommend grant recipients or scholarship recipients
-
Employees can be part of a corporate volunteering initiative or programme during work hours or on the weekends. This can be a company wide employee day, a departmental volunteering initiative or an individual volunteering effort during a lunch hour.
-
Some companies encourage employee philanthropy by implementing a matching gift programme, where an employee's charity contribution is matched by the company. This has also developed into a matching programme for volunteer hours - where the company will make a donation to a charity (e.g. $500) if an employee has volunteered a certain number hours there in a given year.

-    Some companies encourage their staff to engage in philanthropic work and will assess their philanthropic contributions in their annual performance review.
